oatmeal raisin bread


  1. mix

    • ¼ lb. butter, softened

    • 1/3 c. honey

    • 2 t. salt

    • 1 c. milk, scalded

    • 2 eggs



  2. mix in seperate bowl

    • 2 T. yeast

    • ¼ c. lukewarm water



  3. mix the mixtures together

  4. mix

    • 2 c. flour

    • 1 t. cinnamon

    • 1/2 t. nutmeg

    • 3 eggs



  5. add egg mixture to other mixtures

  6. add

    • 1½ c. rolled oats

    • 1½ c. raisins

    • 1¼ c. flour

    • ½ c. untoasted wheat germ



  7. knead well

  8. let rise until doubled in size

  9. knead again

  10. place in 2 buttered loaf pans

  11. let rise again

  12. bake 40-45 minutes



  • yield: 2 loaves
