- combine
- 3 c. flour
- 1 T. sugar
- 2 T. yeast
- 2 t. salt
- ¼ t. baking soda
- heat until very warm (120°-130°)
- 2 c. milk
- ½ c. water
- beat mixtures together until well mixed
- stir in until stiff batter is made
- 2½-3 c. flour
- place into 2 greased loaf pans, sprinkled with cornmeal
- sprinkle tops with
- cornmeal
- cover
- let rise in warm place 45 minutes
- bake at 400° for 25 minutes
- remove from pans and cool
- yield: 2 loavaes, 16 slices per loaf
