baking powder biscuits


  1. preheat oven to 450º

  2. cut together until fine crumbs

    • 1/4 . shortening

    • 2 c. flour

    • 1 T. sugar

    • 3 t. baking powder

    • 1 t. salt



  3. stir in until dough leaves sides of bowl and rounds into a ball

    • 3/4 c. milk (approximately)



  4. turn dough onto lightly floured surface

  5. kneed dough

  6. roll 1/2 inch thick

  7. cut with biscuit cutter

  8. place on ungreased cookie sheet, 1 inch apart

  9. bake 10-12 minutes or until golden brown



  • yield: 10 biscuits

  • may subsitute all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour
