honey oatmeal bread


  1. heat in small saucepan until very warm (120º-130º)

    • 1 1/2 c. water

    • 1/2 c. honey

    • 1/3 c. butter



  2. mix in bowl

    • 5 c. flour

    • 1 c. oatmeal

    • 2 t. salt

    • 2 T. yeast



  3. gradually add

    • warm liquids

    • 2 eggs



  4. add until dough clings to hook and cleans sides of bowl

    • 1/2 - 1 1/2 c. flour



  5. knead for 2 more minutes

  6. place in greased bowl, covered in greased plastic wrap

  7. set in warm place until doubled

  8. shape dough into greased 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/2 loaf pans, covered in greased plastic wrap

  9. ket rise in warm place until doubled

  10. bake at 375º for 40 minutes



  • variation: may subsitute 1 c. all-purpose flour with whole wheat

  • yield: 2 loaves
