Sopapillas

This Mexican recipe is used at Kansas Bible Camp's Around-the-World week. Makes 4 dozen.
  1. Mix
    • 1 pkg. yeast
    • Warm water
  2. Sift into bowl
    • 4 c. flour
    • 3 t. baking powder
    • 1 t. salt
    • 3 t. sugar
  3. Cut in
    • 3 T. shortening
  4. Add
    • Around 1 c. water
  5. Let dough rest 20 minutes
  6. Roll out dough 1/4 inch thick
  7. Cut into squares
  8. Fry
  9. Dip in brown sugar
