traditional sugar cookies


  1. mix thoroughly

    • 3/4 c. shortening

    • 1 c. sugar

    • 2 eggs

    • 1 t. vanilla



  2. blend in

    • 2 1/2 c. flour

    • 1 t. baking powder

    • 1 t. salt



  3. cover and chill for at least 1 hour

  4. preheat oven to 400º

  5. roll dough 1/8 inch thick on lighly floured cabinet

  6. cut into desired shapes

  7. place on ungreased baking sheet

  8. bake 6-8 minutes or until light brown



  • yield: 4 dozen cookies
