grandma bert's whirlygigs


  1. cream together

    • 1/2 c. butter

    • 1/2 c. sugar

    • 1/2 c. brown sugar

    • 1/2 c. peanut butter



  2. beat in

    • 1 egg



  3. stir in

    • 1 1/4 c. flour

    • 1/2 t. baking soda

    • 1/2 t. salt



  4. roll dough into an oval shape, about 1/4 inch thick on a sheet of wax paper; set aside

  5. melt in microwave

    • 6 oz. chocolate chips



  6. spread chocolate chips over dough with spatula

  7. starting from long end, roll up dough and wrap tightly in plastic wrap

  8. chill for several hours

  9. preheat oven to 375º

  10. slice dough 1/4 inch thick

  11. place on ungreased cookie sheets

  12. bake for 12 minutes



  • variation: rather than bake the cookies, eat the dough (it's delicious!)

  • yield: 3 dozen cookies
